Essential Job Duties
The Ecological Engineering Research and Extension Assistant will contribute to research and outreach activities associated with:
  • Sampling rural wastewater effluent quality before and after planned facility upgrades and six locations across the state.
  • Evaluation of innovative constructed wetlands to improve rural wastewater treatment.
  • Providing on-site support and data management for the ongoing volunteer wetland monitoring project across seven sites.
  • Providing laboratory and field support for other water quality sampling projects that may arise.

Work Schedule 40/hrs per week, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, occasional longer days and travel on the weekends

Minimum experience/education
  • Relevant Master’s degree or Relevant Bachelor’s and 3 or more years of relevant experience, or relevant independent experience and education
Department Required Skills
  • Experience in wastewater and wetland water quality sampling, water quality sample preservation, water quality measurements with digital sondes, wetland hydrologic monitoring (with manual water level meters, stage gages, and ONSET computer dataloggers).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), Onset HOBOWare data processing software, and basic statistical analysis
