About Your Role
In this role, you will develop organizing strategies that elevate the Wyoming Outdoor Council’s issues throughout Wyoming communities. You will execute outreach and engagement tactics to support WOC’s programmatic issues, with an emphasis on grassroots organizing, volunteer engagement, working with organizational partners and the general public. As a member of the leadership team, you will support organizational decision-making, and through collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will foster a positive work culture at the Outdoor Council. You are a supportive leader that will build and supervise a team of field organizers, and take on additional supervisory responsibilities as appropriate to support our mission-based events and programs.

About You
While we do not expect any one candidate to possess all of these qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal skills and qualities.
You love working on a collaborative team – you are organized and are comfortable in a leadership role, delegating responsibilities to field organizers who you supervise. You are a strategic thinker and have demonstrated experience in grassroots organizing and successful community engagement. You are familiar with conservation issues in Wyoming and comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders, including conservation organizations, tribes, and other cross-sector community partners. You like meeting new people and interacting with the public, and are a great communicator in both formal and informal settings. You are eager to build lasting relationships with WOC supporters and people across the State of Wyoming.
Your strong leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills will help you collaborate with cross-functional teams and oversee multiple priorities. In your leadership, you bring a clear vision and recognize the value of divergent perspectives. You approach leadership with a mindset of “power with” rather than “power over” and regularly include others in decision-making. You are able to make and communicate difficult decisions in the Outdoor Council’s best interest.
You are committed to contributing to the Outdoor Council’s equity and belonging work to ensure the organization is a welcoming place for all staff, board, volunteers, community members, and organizational partners. You have experience or a passion for building relationships and working with underserved and disadvantaged communities who have historically been underrepresented in conservation efforts. You have particular experience working with Indigenous communities and Tribal governments, support elevating traditional knowledge or have the willingness to learn.
You love Wyoming and enjoy traveling the state to attend meetings and hold events with members and supporters. You like working flexible hours. You are experienced working on Apple devices and the standard suite of office tools and technologies. You are comfortable using Zoom, and are also aware of its limitations.
You have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
