Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Director of Title IX and Clery Compliance serves as a leader responsible for ensuring the University’s compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act, and other related regulatory requirements, while advancing a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and EEO Officer, this role provides strategic oversight, institutional accountability, and campuswide coordination across prevention, response, compliance, and reporting functions, and leads the Office of Title IX and Clery Compliance in alignment with University strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Serves as the University’s designated Title IX Coordinator and Chief Clery Compliance Officer, providing senior institutional leadership and accountability.
  • Oversees and implements comprehensive compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act, and other related federal and state regulations (including VAWA, Campus SaVE, Stop Campus Hazing Act, ADA/Section 504, OSHA, and Title VII) for the University, including the D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy (DCVPA) which is an affiliated K-8 lab school.
  • Ensures the University’s response to reports of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and related concerns is prompt, equitable, thorough, and legally compliant.
  • Administers and enforces Title IX and genderbased misconduct policies; oversees grievance processes, informal resolutions, sanctions review, and supportive measures, including pregnancyrelated accommodations.
  • Leads compliance monitoring, risk assessment, auditing, documentation, and corrective action planning across applicable regulatory areas.
  • Serves as, or collaborates with, the institutional custodian of Title IX and related misconduct records, ensuring confidentiality, proper retention, and audit readiness.
  • Oversees all Clery Actmandated disclosures, including the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, crime statistics, and campus safety notifications; presents required reports to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
  • Collaborates extensively with campus and external stakeholders, including Office of General Counsel, Human Resources, Office of the Dean of Students, CARE Office, Housing and Residential Life, Athletics, Campus Police, Employee Relations, DCVPA, and other departments.
  • Provides strategic leadership for the Office of Title IX and Clery Compliance, including planning aligned with University priorities, budget oversight, and supervision of professional and administrative staff.
  • Supports and strengthens a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus culture through education, prevention, training, and campus wide collaboration.
  • Participates in other related projects as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of program related experience, including work in employment law, EO/AA, Title VII and Title IX investigations, and participation in developing and/or implementing training programs; or Master’s degree in related field and three years of experience as described above. All degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Experience conducting workplace and/or school-based investigations, preferably including allegations of bias-based conduct and/or sexual misconduct.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of campus constituents.
  • Ability to remain impartial, provide appropriate and clear documentation to support all investigative conclusions, exercise good judgment while managing sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality, work under multiple deadlines and time-sensitive timelines, and collaborate collegially and effectively with diverse constituents, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
  • Ability to analyze data and interpret and apply federal, state, and university policy.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Juris Doctorate.
  • Five years’ experience managing compliance with Title IX and the Clery Act regulatory requirements in a higher education environment.
  • Title IX Coordinator and Investigator Training/Certification and Clery Compliance Officer Certification.
