Wildlife/Range Specialist

The Laramie County jobshiringnearme.org District (Lccdnet.org) is looking to hire a qualified individual to join our team and carry out the duties and responsibilities of a Wildlife/Range Habitat Specialist. The Wildlife/Range Habitat Specialist will perform a variety of tasks to include extensive outreach and work with Laramie County residents and community programs, local, state, and federal agencies and the media to promote resource conservation concepts and habitat enhancement and development practices within our communities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in natural resources, wildlife biology, range management, botany or similar field, or 3 years of professional experience in conservation of natural resources.
  • Makes recommendations with respect to the technical data and researched information regarding natural resource issues and concerns.
  • Computer use, software, technological knowledge and mapping software skills.
  • Ability to collect and analyze various types of field data and draw conclusions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Comfortable with public speaking and presentations to various interest groups.
  • Self-starter, excited to promote natural resource management practices and concepts to various stakeholders and audiences.
  • Knowledge of wildlife habitat enhancement techniques and practices to include seeding recommendations and native plant introduction.
  • Knowledge of Wyoming wildlife characteristics, identification, and habitat requirements.
  • Understanding of livestock stocking rates and AUM calculations.
  • Knowledge of invasive plant species and noxious weed mitigation.
  • Reside in Laramie or Albany County within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
