We are currently recruiting individuals who are inspired by opportunity, driven by results, and aligned to NWP’s core values of being responsive, innovative, and connected.The RoleThe Wellness & Recreation Coordinator will implement wellness and recreational programming for NWP students. This includes planning, programming, delivering activities, event promotion, hiring of program instructors and casual student staff. The Wellness and Recreation Coordinator will report to the Associate Dean, Student Life. Some occasional travel to Fairview Campus and the Health Education Centre may be required, along with working some occasional evenings to accommodate after hours’ programming.The Wellness and Recreation Coordinator will be expected to do the following:Coordinate and Implement Wellness & Recreation Programming:

  • Create, plan, and implement campus recreation and wellness programs and events.
  • Administer programs and courses including all registration, set up, transportation, staffing, prizing, payment, etc. as required.
  • Purchase prizes, food, admissions, etc. that support student participation in programming and events.
  • Work with Community Relations in the implementation of a communications plan to promote and advertise events to students.
  • Work closely with Sport & Fitness for the booking and use of fitness facilities on campus.
  • Liaise with internal departments, the NWP Students’ Association and external facilities/vendors to coordinate activities for NWP students.

Staff Training & Recruitment:

  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule casual student staff to assist with the delivery of programming and events.
  • Recruit Fitness Instructors for the delivery of classes and programs including training, insurance, time sheets, contracts, space requirements, etc.
  • Recruit internal or external providers to deliver wellness related programming for students.
  • Work with HR/Payroll to ensure payment of contracted staff or students.

Administration:

  • Assist with program budget development.
  • Ensure spending stays within the allocated budget.
  • Purchase of wellness & recreation items, ex. sleds, games, etc.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed in a timely manner for vendor payments.
  • Prepare written communications such as monthly reports, annual reports, and statistics.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Other duties as required

An equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered.Additional necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of Matador and Agresso are considered an asset;
  • strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • ability to build strong relationships across the organization;
  • a high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability;
