Our dynamic growth and continued success have created an opportunity for an entry level Water Resources Engineer in our corporate headquarters office in downtown Milwaukee. This position is ideal for a candidate looking to have a design role on stormwater and floodplain projects for public and private clients throughout Wisconsin, with opportunities to support projects across the broader Midwest. Our position offers numerous learning challenges and an opportunity to become an important part of a well-established technical group.
Typical job duties include:
- Assist in preparing Stormwater Management Plans for projects in support of the design project manager.
- Opportunity to work on large-scale urban projects.
- Coordinate with other GRAEF disciplines, clients, and consultants.
- Opportunity to design sustainable stormwater management including water reuse and green infrastructure.
- Learn state and local regulations and develop relationships with permitting agencies.
- Perform modeling tasks in a variety of software under guidance from technical experts.
- Assist with wetland and floodplain mitigation and permitting.
We are considering candidates to join our team who possess the following basic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in water resources and stormwater management through internships or class emphasis.
- Minimum of 1 year of relatable work experience.
- EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Good communication and writing skills.
Additional Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with an emphasis on hydraulics, hydrology or a related field of study is a plus.
- Experience with GIS software is a plus.
- SWPPP Certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with Hydrologic/hydraulic software including HydroCAD, HEC-RAS and SWMM would also be considered a plus.
