WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Washington Forest Manager is responsible for ensuring that the forest activities meet and exceed the Nature Conservancy’s forest management and restoration goals and objectives, as well as the standards set by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Land Trust Accreditation (LTA) in both coastal rainforests and inland dry forest systems. This position directly supervises three jobshiringnearme.org Field Foresters who oversee Conservancy-owned and/or managed forestlands in Willapa Bay (20,000 acres), the Olympic Peninsula (16,000 acres), and the Central Cascades (18,000 acres) of Washington. Key responsibilities include daily management and scheduling of forest operations, ensuring compliance and accountability for contracts and grants, and managing complex forest restoration projects. These projects involve various activities, such as commercial restoration thinning, pre-commercial thinning, reforestation, invasive species treatments, stream habitat improvement, forest road improvements, road decommissioning, road maintenance, and general property management. A critical aspect of this position is developing and fostering strong relationships with partners and communities.
The Forest Manager will oversee forest operations and is tasked with achieving active forest management and restoration outcomes. This includes monitoring harvest operations and restoration projects carried out by the team, or contractors who implement the forest management plans across Nature Conservancy managed properties. The primary goal of the Conservancy’s forest management is to enhance forest health while restoring ecological structures and functions across these properties, generating ecological, financial, and social benefits.
This position collaborates closely with colleagues at The Nature Conservancy in Washington and across the organization, who have expertise in science, government and community relations, human resources, philanthropy, finance, and marketing to achieve the Conservancy’s objectives.

SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $73,000 – $89,700 annual salary or $40.12/hour – $49.29/hour. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
