Job introductionAbout the roleCould you spare a few hours a month and help us make a positive difference to young people across East Sussex?We run evening sessions in our Youth Hubs in Hastings, Eastbourne, Heathfield & Peacehaven for young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 for those with SEND), which last from 1.5 to 3 hours. We know from experience how highly valued these sessions are for our young people in East Sussex.We are looking for volunteers aged 16 or over who can support our Youth Workers by assisting and engaging in activities, but most importantly show interest in the lives of the youths who attend. There is a wide variety of activities that we cater for and are always open to new ideas if you have a particular skill set.Our current volunteers help for a variety of reasons. Many find it a rewarding way to give back to the community, as well as an opportunity to gain new skills and experiences in preparation for a new career. In fact, several of our staff started at East Sussex as a volunteer. Whatever your reasons, we’d love to hear from you.Our young people value consistency so please consider this when offering to volunteer. Training and uniform will be provided, and we will cover travel costs. We will also be happy to provide references and there are often opportunities for careers within the council as a result of volunteering.All we ask is that you have an interest in engaging with young people and any experience of this would be a bonus.
