GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Exciting opportunity to perform a wide variety of maintenance work in a large state park! You will join a dedicated team in preserving and protecting a 7,400-acre state park featuring amazing views, diverse wildlife, camping, fishing and hunting opportunities, and over 40 miles of trails!
Under the direct supervision of the Lead Ranger, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work. Responsible for performing the daily operational and maintenance program at San Angelo State Park. Performs all phases of maintenance and repair to facilities, buildings, equipment, and grounds. Operates all types of equipment including, but not limited to power mowers, electric/power tools, tractors, trucks, and other gasoline/diesel/electrical/manual operated tools and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) of buildings, facilities, and grounds. Assists with the enforcement of park rules and regulations. Provides customer service, issues permits and collects fees as required. Maintains park grounds, including mowing, pruning, trimming and landscaping. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of cabin facilities, restroom and grounds. Assists other staff with completion of functions and park maintenance necessary to meet public expectations and all park visitors’ needs. Acts as backup Utility Plant Operator (UPO) when needed. Follows purchasing procedures for supplies, tools, equipment, etc. Prepares required reports accurately and timely. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience:
Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.
Licensure:
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class “C” Texas driver’s license.
Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class “D” Water Operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class “D” Wastewater Treatment Operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license and certification.

Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.
