Job DescriptionJob ID#:4253Job Category:SalesOur client is established and a successful company in the Capital Region seeking an experienced Sales Engineer/Technical Sales Rep with either a background in HVAC or a mechanical and/or technical Sales experience!Responsibilities of the Sales Engineer/Technical Sales Rep:

  • The client base consists of Contractors, Architects, and Engineers.
  • Will be calling on Engineers and Contractors, including low-tech and high-tech product lines.
  • The candidate is responsible for contractor and/or technical work and requires a strong understanding of schematics.
  • Will also generate and follow up on leads.
  • Responsible for developing long-term customer relationships with contractors, consulting engineers, or owners.
  • Promote the company’s products as the preferred solution specified by Engineers, Contractors, and Owners.
  • Work with existing customer base to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain products or services to customers and prospective customers.
  • Provide technical and non-technical support and services to clients or other staff members regarding equipment use, operation, and maintenance.
  • Meet or exceed sales plans.
  • Work on bids for engineers and contractors

Job RequirementsQualifications of the Sales Engineer/Technical Sales Rep:

  • Ideal background includes experience in construction, HVAC, industrial, etc. and/or technical sales, for a comprehensive product offering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. Will also consider commensurate work experience.
  • Proven sales track record and mechanical engineering knowledge, preferred.
  • The ability to work effectively with people at all levels, both internally and externally to the company.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organization skills and strong time management in order to handle complex bidding and designs plus face-to-face sales calls.
  • Success will be measured by specific quantitative goals.
  • Computer literate.
  • Will also consider strong outside, full-cycle sales experience selling a technical product like SaaS solutions, enterprise software, etc.
  • Consultative Sales experience
  • Ability to travel within the local sales territory.
  • This is an onsite position in Albany, NY.
