The Technical Manager is accountable for the technical and process safety strategies for the Manufacturing Center. This role will support the Product Line to achieve the objectives of safety, quality, cost and delivery. This includes continuous improvement programs for process technology and aspects of the site SHES (Safety, Health, Environmental and Security) management program. Further, the role will oversee technical support, the process safety program, basis of safety program, safe operating windows, management of change systems and the site laboratory for the site. The role will manage the technical proficiency of site technical engineers, including support of the Product Line Process Engineer.What you will be doingThe Technical Manager will:a) Ensure that safety, health, and the environment procedures are adhered to by all members of the technical team
b) Manage the overall technical support provided to the site for production, maintenance, SHES, projects, procurement, supply chain and broader business activities.
c) Ensure laboratory analytic requirements for the site are met.
d) Define and deliver the site Continuous Improvement Program for the process engineering department.
e) Define and manage the safe (and normal) operating window, basis of safety and alarm management system for production cells as part of the site’s overall process safety management system
f) Manage administration of the Manufacturing Centre’s Management of Change system including final approval of all change proposals for implementation and close out.
g) Provide senior technical representation for site issues and opportunities.
h) Review and signoff of RCA for process and control events.
i) Support site hazard studies, risk review, SIL verifications, etc.
j) Manage site engineering documentation including DCS, SIS, PFD, ELDs, P&IDs.
k) Manage the overall performance and lifecycle of DCS and SIS systems.
l) Maintain and contribute to a technical network inside and outside of the Organization
m) Manage the technical team and their engagement and motivation which includes ensuring their training and development, performance management, reward and recognitions, etc.
n) Join the Technical Managers Community of Practice with the purpose of collaborating on best practice, method standardization and improvement relevant to the position and requirements.
o) Collaborate with the global technical team, engineering and asset management team as required.
p) Administer engineering professional requirements for the team as required by local legislation.What you will bring
- Minimum 10 years Continuous Manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in senior engineering or operational role preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 4+ years’ experience in Engineering
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
- Excellent management, communication and leadership skills
