The Role
A ground breaking design engineering consultancy specialising in public and private sector works including transport, energy, industry and education Is looking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Associate or Technical Director to take a leading role in the technical delivery of civils & structural works in their Rail Division.
You will work closely with other directors and rail specialists across the UK offices to deliver a range of rail infrastructure projects, including station upgrades, track realignments, and bridge replacement/ refurbishment and associated works.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with a relevant engineering institution and possess extensive experience in rail technical design and project delivery.
Main Duties
The role requires the candidate to act as a technical lead for rail projects, ensuring on-time delivery to high-quality standards while meeting financial targets. This will require effective management experience and comprehensive technical expertise.
Key tasks include but are not limited to:
Job Responsibilities:
– Lead the technical design and delivery of multiple rail projects concurrently.
– Undertake the role of Rail Discipline Manager or Rail Discipline Director as needed.
– Oversee the day-to-day management, guidance, and training of staff while delivering your projects.
– Serve as a role model and technical expert within the company.
– Coordinate with other engineers across regional offices and technical teams.
– Manage the preparation of calculations, drawings, and other project documents, ensuring quality and control.
– Engage with clients on proposals, project progress, and deliverables.
– Identify and mitigate risks associated with your projects to maintain agreed standards.
Required Experience
– In-depth knowledge of UK rail standards and design experience on rail projects above £5M construction value.
– Detailed technical skills across key areas of civil rail design, such as structures.
– Experience working with key stakeholders within the rail sector.Professional Qualifications:
– CEng + membership with relevant institutions (e.g., MICE, MIHT), or experienced near-chartered engineer with 10-15 years of relevant experience.
