Responsibilities

Departmental Support

  • Develops and monitors work schedules for multiple shifts on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to ensure each unit has the appropriate staffing requirements.
  • Guides and trains new employees to ensure proper housekeeping techniques are being utilized and patient safety and employee safety is being upheld.
  • Participates in interview process for new hires
  • Assists in team member evaluations, action plans and disciplinary processes as required.
  • Leads, encourages and coaches environmental services team members with regards to the importance of teamwork and a safe work environment.
  • Identify areas within the hospital where cleaning improvements can be made.
  • Assists with responding to WebTMA requests, ensuring work is performed and costs are posted for all tickets submitted.
  • Responds to calls during days, nights and weekends to ensure patient safety and satisfaction is upheld with regards to facility cleanliness.

Inventory Management

  • Monitors inventory of housekeeping supplies and orders items as necessary.
  • Identifies needed equipment and tools and works with the Manager of Environmental Services to determine costs.
  • Performs other tasks as requested by Manager of Environmental Services.

Quality Improvement

  • Responds to customer’s needs as they arise.

Financial Support

  • Monitors employee payroll for accurate and efficient processing.Works closely with the Manager of Environmental Services to identify other key areas of concern, i.e. supply budget, overtime budget, key competencies, etc.

Qualifications

education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent or higher level of post-secondary education

Experience:

  • General knowledge of housekeeping functions
  • One or more years of supervisory experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and understand English
