Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services is looking for an enthusiastic, client-focused leader who has a passion for customer service and strong knowledge of therapeutic diets for the Patient Food Services (PFS) department at the new Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre. The ACCC will use a new and innovative model of service for PFS, providing a patient-driven on-demand meal service, removing the need for traditional trayline assembly. The PFS Supervisor reports to the Manager and is responsible for maintaining patient food service operations at the site level. This position provides direction to front line workers and ensures that patients receive the meals required to promote good health, including overseeing the infant formula preparation. As a key member of the PFS team, you are responsible for leading and mentoring staff, promoting safe work environments, managing budgets, and implementing organizational and departmental initiatives. Supervisors may act a key contact to site administration and patient care for matters relating to Food Services. This position routinely interacts with dietitians, health care staff, patients and their families. The Supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream.Description:Responsibilities of a Patient Food Service Supervisor include performance management, recruitment, training, staff scheduling, payroll management and discipline of area employees. Responsible for monitoring operational performance targets including budget and inventory management to achieve quality food service goals using a customer-focused approach. Also responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations as well as implementation and monitoring of quality improvement, risk management and safety standards, including the infant feeding management system for formula preparation. Communication and collaboration with Clinical Dietitian to ensure diet orders are implemented appropriately is vital. This position exercises considerable independence in performing duties and meeting management objectives. The Supervisor acts a key contact to site administration and patient care for matters relating to Food Services. This position routinely interacts with dietitians, health care staff, patients and their families.

Required Qualifications:A minimum of three years of leadership experience in a health care setting involving hiring, scheduling and directing work to assigned employees. Candidates are required to have either a diploma/degree in Dietetics, Nutrition and Food Service Management or Dietary Technology with excellent knowledge of therapeutic diets used in PFS. Considerable leadership experience in a unionized health care environment is desirable with strong team-building skills and the ability to handle multiple demands concurrently. Education must be accompanied by demonstrated leadership ability, organizational and time management skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be proficient with software in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, TEAMS, and Outlook). Ability to meet timelines and to independently prioritize work with attention to detail and accuracy. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to implement change and handle competing priorities without close supervision. Ability to work in a unionized environment. Must be proficient with software in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, TEAMS, and Outlook) required. Familiarity with RMS, e-Facilities, Epic and CBORD is an asset.
