Job Description Summary

The Summer STEAM Program Team Leader will collaborate with Miami Online Leadership to advance the STEAM Studio summer camp experience through management of camp staff, facilitation of camp experiences, and feedback analytics on the Middletown and Hamilton Campuses.

Essential Duties

  • Work performed at this level is done independently of supervision.
  • Provide supervision to student employees at the Student Master 1 Undergrad level.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires the highest level of artistic, technical, or scientific expertise.

For Academic and Administrative Assistance settings, the student must:

  • Perform complex research activities in the scientific field; students engaged in such activity may be responsible for completion of project assigned with no supervision of administrative staff.
  • They may also serve as a group leader in research activities.

For Technical settings, the student must:

  • Possess advanced computer knowledge and customer support knowledge in advanced client/server programming, relational databases, Novell, C++, TCP/IP, SQL, JAVA, Visual Basic.
  • Demonstrate evidence of advanced technical and software skills, leadership, skills in mentoring, training, expert management, and business skills.
  • Maintain professional environment for fellow employees and clients.
  • Approve supervisory functions, provide expert leadership, and approve schedules.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.

Summer STEAM Program Team Leader Student Master 2 Undergrad

  • Manage Summer STEAM Team Members, including scheduling, training, and mentoring.
  • Monitor and assess the training and work-quality of outreach program staff.
  • Coordinate and execute identified Miami Online community outreach events and programs (ie. Youth Summer STEAM, Campus Visits, SOARs, off-site community events).
  • Supervise, instruct, and manage participants at all times while programming is occurring.
  • Assist in providing feedback and the collection of data to provide an assessment of program effectiveness, analyzing results, and making recommendations for improvement for future events and program design.
  • Participate in program evaluation activities to inform recruitment and retention of program participants.
  • Represent Miami Online at University events.
  • Help plan and assess the effectiveness of content for social media, including planning photo/video shoots.
  • Enhances program, department, and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Maintain a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
  • Displays prior experience mentoring, managing, or leading others including serving as a youth role model.
  • Possesses customer service skills; including the ability to demonstrate conflict resolution, creativity, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Responsible for including all participants despite individual needs.
  • Experience in teaching new skills to staff and/or participants is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including communicating technical information in terms understandable for middle-school aged participants.
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize work while overseeing multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills; adapt to new technology and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical demands include the frequent walking as well as long periods of standing both indoors and outdoors.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Must be available June 2 – August 1, 2025, at minimum.
