In response to rapid climate change, we help landowners and communities protect their land while restoring biodiversity and resilience. We work with private landowners through conservation easements and manage public nature preserves, promoting outdoor recreation that enhances physical and mental well-being.
position Overview
Mississippi Valley Conservancy is seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual to assist with implementing land management projects on nature preserves and the stewardship of conservation easement properties. Habitat management projects may include invasive species control, prescribed burning, timber stand improvement, boundary posting, site monitoring, and more. The stewardship technician will be responsible for coordinating with volunteers and collaborating with private landowners in monitoring conservation easements and prepare reports in compliance with Land Trust Alliance standards and practices. This position will work directly with landowners to advise on habitat improvement, agricultural conservation practices, and other aspects of conservation. A strong work ethic, interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, excellent record keeping, and the ability to integrate science into conservation planning are required. Duties in this position will be split between Land Management (65%), Land Protection (25%), and program related recordkeeping (10%) with approximately 75% of the time spent outdoors. The successful candidate will join a team of passionate individuals dedicated to permanent land protection, habitat restoration, and public outreach.
