As an intern at the Presque Isle State Park Complex, you will engage in various activities related to ongoing studies, research, monitoring, environmental education, and maintenance projects. Your responsibilities will include developing new coverage layers and managing data within the Geographic Information System (GIS) specific to the park. You will utilize GPS equipment to survey the locations of facilities, infrastructure, and geographic boundaries.
In addition to technical tasks, you will interact with visitors at the marina office and in the field, ensuring excellent customer service while familiarizing yourself with the park’s amenities, facilities, and regulations. You will also assist with marina office duties and gain hands-on experience in park maintenance by collaborating with maintenance staff on specific projects, as well as participating in park inspections.
