This is an opportunity for a band 5 staff nurse to work in a brand-new modern hospital, The Louisa Martindale Building. We are excited to have moved into level C8 with our Acute Frailty Area. The new hospital with its spacious bays, side rooms, amazing views of the sea and Downs, allows the best environment to care for our elderly patients.Caring for short stay elderly patients who are acutely ill, with differing underlying chronic conditions, enables staff to have many learning opportunities. Some patients are diagnosed as ‘frail’ and may have cognitive impairment.We hope that this opportunity is what you are seeking. We are supported by a practice educator for speciality medicine who will advise and encourage you in your continued professional development. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.Main duties of the jobThe nursing staff, working together with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, deliver person centred care working collaboratively to treat acutely unwell frail older people, focusing on the best outcomes for our patients.We engage and involve patients, carers and their families from admission in care and discharge planning.We provide education and training to our staff to increase their knowledge and awareness of the skills required to give the best care for older people, for example ,to prevent deconditioning, and pressure injuries, to provide improved nutrition and excellent palliative care.About usAt UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First.
