Job DescriptionJob ID#:4643Job Category:Accounting/FinanceA temporary opportunity, with the possibility of being hired, is available for a Staff Accountant to join a dynamic finance team. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this position supports a variety of accounting and administrative functions vital to the operation of the finance department. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess strong communication and analytical skills. This opportunity is located near Albany, NY.Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant will include:

• Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing and agency credit card transactions.
• Maintain and update records for clothing allowance distribution across residential programs.
• Track and process staff mileage reimbursements.
• Administer gas card program: manage user access, order/cancel cards, and distribute annually.
• Oversee residential cable account(s) and related billing activities.
• Coordinate documentation and processing for EMOD (Environmental Modifications) requests.
• Prepare and file quarterly fuel sales tax reimbursement forms.
• Assist with the preparation of the agency’s annual cost report and operating budget.
• Calculate quarterly vehicle usage allocations for shared agency vehicles.
• Generate and distribute monthly budget performance reports for management.
• Monitor and document EZ Pass and DMV LENS usage.
• Manage database of handicap tags, ensuring timely renewals and compliance.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Conduct periodic residential cash fund audits.
• Provide training to staff on proper documentation practices and financial procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and oversight agencies such as OPWDD, CDC, and DOH.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job RequirementsQualifications of the Staff Accountant:

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field required.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).
• Experience with accounting software, preferably Sage, is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team environment.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
