The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking a Social Media and Collaborations Producer to join our Communications and Marketing Department, to bring our social media to life, keep our followers updated on what we are doing and reach out to people who are passionate about social sciences and humanities subjects.ROLE PURPOSE / OVERVIEWThe Social Media and Collaborations Producer is responsible for the day-to-day running of the British Academy’s social media channels. You will work alongside a talented team of digital and multi-media content creators in the Communications and Marketing directorate, scheduling, posting and coordinating content on our social media channels. You will play a key role in ensuring social media is used creatively and effectively to deliver the Academy’s communications and engagement strategy.Working with the Marketing and Brand team, you will run social media campaigns to promote the Academy’s work and initiatives using a mixture of paid and organic posts. You will create assets and work with our design agency and in-house multimedia team.You will also be responsible for finding, managing and working with content creators and other organisations to create collaborative content. This is an area we want grow and this role will take the lead on it.You will have demonstrable experience in promoting an organisation’s activities through LinkedIn, Instagram, X and Bluesky, creating campaigns that combine organic and paid social media to reach broad audiences such as academics, policy makers and opinion formers. You will also be experienced in creating rich social media content for an organisation and planning comprehensive marketing campaigns that are informed by audience data.You will use initiative and expertise to analyse data from social campaigns to inform future projects, and work collaboratively with stakeholders and external partners to reach existing and new audiences.OFFICE LOCATION – 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, St James Park, London, SW1Y 5AHKEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Forward-plan and manage day-to-day social media activity:Oversee social media publishing schedule (which people across the directorate post to), ensuring Academy channels are current, accurate, on-brand and opportunities are maximised.Produce organic and paid content tailored to each platform and target audience, working with others in the team where needed.Act as a social media champion to provide expert advice to people across the Academy on what makes good social media and social content for our audiences. Produce and post content for them.2. Work with the marketing team to create and deliver campaigns:For major initiatives (for example event seasons), help devise and deliver campaigns that combine organic and paid content that fulfil the objectives/KPIs of the campaign.Measure and optimise the effectiveness of campaigns, ensuring value for money, learning from each one and improving the next.Create original assets and work with our design agency and multimedia team to produce assets.3. Constantly evolve our social media approach:Use analytics and insights; work closely with team managers; follow the objectives of our communications and engagement strategy; revise how we use existing platforms as they change and how our audiences’ use of them changes.Consider how the Academy can best use emerging social media channels to achieve our strategic objectives. Piloting and experimenting with how we use them.Optimise the processes and tools used for social media management.4. Work with content creators and organisations in collaborations on their profiles:Find and approach content creators and similar organisations with audiences relevant to the Academy and post about our content themes.Develop content collaborations that promote Academy initiatives through authentic paid-for or partnership posts.Evaluate these collaborations as a way to reach audiences who would not otherwise be aware of the Academy.KEY STAKEHOLDERSInternal:News and Public Affairs team; Digital, Brand and Marketing team; Director of Communications; Policy, International and Research Funding teams; Development teamExternal:Content Creators; Funders and partner organisations; Creative agenciesROLE REQUIREMENTSQUALIFICATIONSNo specific qualifications are required for this role, but the role holder should have proven experience working as a social media content creator for an established company.
