This course will examine the formation, consequences and dynamics of institutions – from legislatures and courts to militaries and interest groups – in both democratic and authoritarian societies. We will also consider how institutions inform the relationship between individuals and the state, and how these social structures are instruments of policy implementation.Estimated course enrolment: 15Estimated TA support: N/AClass Schedule: Thursday 17:00-19:00*The delivery method for this course is currently in-person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025Salary:Sessional Lecturer I: $9,820.70Sessional Lecturer I – Long term: $10,510.04Sessional Lecturer II: $10,510.04Sessional Lecturer II- Long term: $10,760.28Sessional Lecturer III: $10,760.28Sessional Lecturer III- Long term: $11,030.36Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Political Science with a proven record of teaching public policy to undergraduate students.Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience and expertise in global migration studies, as well as teaching experience in international relations, politics, or public policy is preferred.Description of duties: Developing course syllabus; teaching one 2-hour lecture per week at the undergraduate level; providing weekly office hours for academic counseling of students; preparing and delivering course materials; preparing and delivering assignments and tests; marking student work and submitting grades.Application Procedure: All individuals interested in this position must submit an updated Cover Letter, Curriculum Vitae and the to the Undergrad Coordinator – Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy .Closing Date: 07/02/2025, 11:59PM EDT
