It examines the emergence and transformation of Palestinian political identity, the formation and development of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and the competition for leadership within the Palestinian political landscape between the Palestinian major movements such as Fatah and Hamas. The course explores how Palestinian actors navigated critical historical junctures, including the British Mandate, the Nakba, the establishment of the Palestinian Authority, and internal political divisions. While the broader Palestinian-Israeli conflict provides context, the primary focus is on Palestinian decision-making, factional strategies, and the political rationale behind key positions.
