Course description:
The objective of this course, which serves as a starting point in our series of FSL courses, is to introduce students to the phonetic system of the French language, to teach basic vocabulary and to develop awareness of the functions of language in different situations and contexts. An awareness of various francophone cultures and communities will be developed.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025
Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term – $10,326.62 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term – $10,570.02 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications:
Graduate-level degree in French Studies.
Demonstrated experience teaching university-level French-as-a-second-language courses.
(Near-)native competence in spoken and written French.
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university-level, is preferred.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
Description of duties:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments,tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; ordering of all necessary readings; supervision of TAs (if any) assigned to the course.
