You would have the opportunity to make an impact on patient and resident-focused health care as a dedicated member of the Linen & Environmental Services (LES) team. LES is a provincial team that is committed to providing supportive patient and resident care through timely and effective portering, cleaning and linen services. This position will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident, and visitor experience. You possess strong customer service, teamwork, the ability to work alone, and prioritizing skills. The successful candidate also has a patient-first approach and is able to follow oral and written instructions. Motor coordination and hand-eye coordination are needed, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment which may be stressful at times. As this position requires a lot of walking and standing, it’s a perfect way to get your steps in, keep your cardio up, and keep in shape while greatly helping Albertans and your healthcare system! We are currently hiring relief Service Worker (no guarantee of shifts) for all Calgary hospitals. Schedules may include a combination of day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. We need you to be flexible and available for a minimum of four shifts per week. We will make every effort to match you to your preferred locations. Most of experienced relief SW I stay with us and successfully transition into regular full-time and part-time positions.Description:As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:Physically capable of lifting, pushing and/or pulling 50 lbs. regularly. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively. Critical thinking, prioritizing requests, and scheduling time as necessary. Ability to comprehend, speak, read, and write English fluently and communicate with a multi-disciplinary team of health care providers. Reliable, cooperative and ability to demonstrate effective service attitude. Preferred Qualifications:Previous hospital experience is preferred. Knowledge of hospital procedures and equipment operation. Customer service experience. Previous related job experience. A valid WHMIS certificate is an asset. Basic computer proficiency and experience with Connect Care.
