The Senior Vice President will lead our advertising sales team for CNBC International and will be responsible for achieving both short and long-term advertising revenue goals and strategic objectives for the company, supporting current, and identifying new partners to advertise with us both internationally and in the US.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create and execute revenue sales strategy for CNBC across our multiple customer touchpoints, including TV (linear channel, FAST channel and YouTube live streaming), distributed short and long-form video (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok), Podcasts, audio and events.
- Ensure that employees take a consultative approach, sell with integrity and uphold networks’ sales standards
- Set goals/budgets, manage pipeline and communicate expectations for and manage performance of the sales team
- Oversee international sales team, planning and account servicing, branded content teams, as well as data and insights
- Craft solutions that work for clients by deeply understanding their marketing strategies and needs and using the full suite of CNBC’s brand capabilities and platforms to help them achieve their goals
- Manage reporting systems to effectively analyze year-over-year and quarter-to-quarter pacing and performance tracking
- Design and implement a sales strategy to align with shifts in audience behaviour, elevating the Go to Market, adapting media plans, testing and learning using data and insights tailored to different regions internationally
- Work collaboratively with our content and editorial teams to understand topics and themes of coverage, programming ideas to find the best alignment for our clients
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders across agencies, clients and government partners
- Track actual and projected sales deals to develop quarterly and annual performance forecasts
- Work with and incorporate data from programming, research, and finance departments to develop annual sales budgets, determine pricing & packaging, manage & control inventory, oversee the development of special sales promotions, sponsorships, contests, and other vehicles to secure revenue
- Provide positive and effective leadership. Recruit, develop, and coach sales team talent in order to meet or exceed specific goals for profitable revenue growth
The Person
- Extensive experience in a senior level advertising sales role gained within a corporate, matrix company
- Deep understanding of global and regional trends with prior experience of setting sales strategies for multiple markets
- Demonstrable understanding of changing audience behaviors and how to adapt sales strategies to meet them
- Proven track record in overachieving set revenue targets, being well versed in how to package digital media and multi-platform content to achieve sales strategies
- Strong, pre-existing relationships and credibility with buyers of traditional and interactive media
- Skilled in consultative selling and crafting bigger brand programs for top-tier advertising clients, including banks, airlines, governments, etc.
- Track record and mastery of brand building and brand extension across traditional and non-traditional media channels and platforms
- Excellent negotiation skills, demonstrated ability to maximize the existing inventory and platforms available to generate the highest revenue returns possible
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder
- Possess effective and powerful leadership and motivational skills with proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Ability to maintain deep, trusted and effective client relationships, with a high profile and impeccable reputation in the marketplace
- Extensive experience operating in EMEA and APAC regions.
- Willing and able to travel internationally
- Successful leadership experience and demonstration of ability to work well across an organizational matrix.
- Documented success building, managing, and retaining high-performance teams.
QualificationsA Bachelors degree from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning is required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) ideal.
