Join OPG and make history.Whether you work in the skilled trades or are a business professional, a career at OPG is an opportunity to electrify your life on — and off — the job.JOB OVERVIEWOntario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Technical Engineer/Officer – (Code Compliance).Reporting to the Manager, Fire Protection Support, this position is responsible to Conduct fire protection impact evaluations and gap analyses for all new plant modifications, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards such as the National Fire Code, NFPA, CSA 293/393, and internal licensing requirements.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform fire protection impact evaluations for all new design modifications to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and fire safety best practices.
• Execute and manage regulatory fire protection projects, including inspection, testing, and maintenance programs in accordance with CSA 293/393 and other applicable codes.
• Conduct detailed fire protection gap analyses to identify compliance issues or areas for improvement relative to the National Fire Code, NFPA standards, and internal fire safety procedures.
• Support license renewal activities by providing subject matter expertise on fire protection systems and ensuring associated documentation and compliance materials are up to date.
• Review and update fire protection handbooks and procedures to reflect current regulatory expectations and internal operational needs.
• Interpret and apply fire-related regulatory standards, including the National Fire Code, NFPA, CSA 293/393, and provincial building and fire codes, to operational and engineering challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure fire safety is integrated into plant modifications, maintenance activities, and operational planning.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight on fire-related issues and respond to ad hoc requests involving compliance with fire and building codes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4 year university education in an appropriate engineering field or by having the equivalent level of education.
• 4 years minimum experience in fire protection or code compliance.
• Strong knowledge of fire protection standards and codes, including the National Fire Code, NFPA, and CSA standards (CSA N293 or N393).
• Proven experience in impact evaluations and fire protection gap analyses related to facility modifications and operational changes.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to inspection, testing, maintenance, and licensing activities within highly regulated environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support cross-functional teams and provide clear technical guidance on fire safety and code compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply building and fire codes to support engineering assessments and regulatory projects.
• Experience supporting license renewal documentation and updating technical procedures or handbooks in alignment with current codes and standards.
