You will be joining the agile teams comprised of dedicated and passionate developers, testers and business analysts who are directly involved with the Bank of Canada’s role in the Financial Markets. It is mainly through the financial markets that the Bank’s key policy rate influences interest rates and the exchange rate. You will bring your expertise to a newly established enterprise application team responsible for implementing and maintaining mission critical processes related to Collateral Management and domestic market operations. Your role will focus on driving operational excellence by providing hands-on expertise in application production operations, ensuring reliability and efficiency of these critical systems.In addition, you will:

  • deliver technical leadership in release processes; managing environments and deployment
  • lead the resolution of complex operational problems by leveraging advanced expertise in the underlying business application and related infrastructure
  • Participation in 24×7 support rotations
  • drive initiatives to improve operational excellence through automation, adoption of relevant tools and practices
  • actively contribute technical expertise within the scrum teams by assisting members resolve technical issues and sharing knowledge

What you need to succeed
You are a team player, actively inviting diverse perspectives, fostering respectful working relationships with colleagues.In addition, you have

  • Demonstrated adaptability: proven ability to master new technical skills to meet team needs, while effectively sharing expertise to achieve collective goals
  • DevOps and CI/CD expertise: proficiency in DevOps, version control, CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Nexus, Jenkins/Tekton and ArgoCD. Strong track record of streamlining processes through automation
  • Enterprise system support: extensive experience supporting enterprise systems, with a solid understanding of production operations, application resiliency and availability
  • Strong knowledge of contanerization platforms such as RedHat Openshift or Kubernetes; including their role in enhancing application resiliency

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Knowledge of managing configurations through yaml, overlays and solutions like Kustomize
  • Knowledge of application authentication through certificate management. Experience working with tools similar to CyberArk, AppviewX
  • Experience working with Message queues such as AMQ and integration platforms such as Mulesoft
  • Knowledge of Standard Query Language (SQL), Java, Unix scripts, node.js, Jasper reports.

Your education and experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science, software development or a relevant field and a minimum of 7+ years of experience in applications development and systems integration or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be consideredWhat you need to know

  • Language requirement: English or French essential
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Secret

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $108,874 to $128,087 (job grade 17)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
