Senior Kitchen Operations Assistant / Kitchen Porter – Epping – £16/hour – Full-Time Temporary (Until October)Looking for consistent hours in a hands-on kitchen support role?Appetite4Work is hiring a Senior Kitchen Operations Assistant (also known as Senior Kitchen Porter) to support a catering kitchen and events team in Epping. This full-time, temporary role runs until October, with fixed shifts Tuesday to Saturday.As a Senior Kitchen Operations Assistant, you’ll take on essential back of house duties, helping to keep the kitchen clean, organised, and efficient. You’ll also play a part in catering events, working as part of a close-knit team and occasionally interacting with guests. This is a great opportunity for someone with kitchen porter, kitchen assistant, or cleaning experience who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and works well with others.Your key responsibilities will include:

• General kitchen porter duties: washing up, keeping crockery and utensils clean, and supporting chefs
• Deep cleaning of kitchen areas, worktops, floors, and equipment
• Stock handling: accepting deliveries, unpacking, and rotating stock
• Supporting with food hygiene standards and maintaining cleaning schedules

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience as a kitchen porter, kitchen assistant, or in a similar back of house role
• Ideally has some supervisory or team-leading experience, though not essential if you’ve worked independently in fast-paced kitchens
• Understands HACCP, COSHH, food safety, and allergen procedures
• Is personable and reliable, and enjoys working as part of a small team
• Can manage their own workload and stay organised under pressure

Job details:

• Contract: Full-time, temporary, zero-hour
• Pay: £16 per hour, with holiday pay accrued separately
• Shifts: Tuesdays to Saturdays. Tuesday to Friday 09:30-17:00 in the production kitchen; Saturdays are double shifts at events
• Location: Epping (own transport preferred due to limited public transport)
