Many efforts will contribute to this, the Commissioning and Handover (C&H) Team is to ensure the effective and efficient commissioning and handover of our assets as they’re delivered to our operational teams.We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a very strong Control System background to join us. You’ll work in partnership with Scottish Water’s Delivery Partners, supply chain and a variety of internal Scottish Water teams to ensure effective commissioning support and governance at a project level. You’ll support continuous improvement of C&H working practices throughout the supply chain and provide advice on control system delivery strategies for our next investment period.What you’ll doYou’ll play a critical part in ensuring smooth commissioning and handover processes. You’ll provide essential information and outline constraints to guide commissioning requirements and planning. Your responsibilities include assuring commissioning plans, reliability and performance testing, as well as ensuring all necessary evidence and documentation are in place.You’ll support and assure operational impact assessments and planning by engaging with key stakeholders, facilitating effective communication, enabling knowledge transfer, identifying resource needs, and considering water supply requirements. You’ll also help identify, manage, and escalate commissioning and handover risks, issues, and hazards.You’ll oversee key governance controls, including approvals for Asset Start-up and Water into Supply. You’ll provide feedback on commissioning performance data, highlight residual risks, and offer assurance during the handover process to support final acceptance.You’ll collaborate closely with our Capital Delivery Partners, Scottish Water Customer Service Delivery (CSD) Operations Teams, the Strategic Customer Service Planning Teams, and other key functions across Scottish Water. This teamwork will be essential in delivering outstanding results and ensuring alignment across all stages of the commissioning process.What you’ll needYou’ll need extensive experience and in-depth working knowledge of Control Systems, including SCADA, PLC, and HMI. You’ll also need the ability to work effectively across various disciplines associated with the commissioning of capital projects. As you’ll be dealing with specialist capital documentation and systems regularly, appropriate level of IT skills is essential.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are a must to address commissioning challenges and identify improvement opportunities. You’ll need sound judgment and decision-making skills to support delivery and make risk-based decisions. Being able to appropriately challenge and escalate issues when required is also critical to ensuring project success.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage your workload effectively, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines. Building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders will be key to your success, along with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse teams. A full UK driving license is also required.Although it is not essential, a good understanding of the water industry, including water and wastewater processes, is advantageous. Familiarity with the operation and maintenance requirements of infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets will also be beneficial. Knowledge of commissioning and handover processes within a Scottish Water environment, as well as an understanding of Capital Investment and Customer Service Delivery (CSD) practices will set you apart. Possessing Scottish Water DOMS and an EUSR National Water Hygiene Card is helpful, although training will be provided if needed.

If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000.
