As a member of a high-impact team, you will play an important role in energizing the Autodesk developer community, working with 3rd party application developers, and influencing the Autodesk engineering teams on API requirements for making the community and Autodesk succeed.The OpportunityAutodesk is seeking a talented and motivated Developer Advocate to join our team. We are working closely with the engineering team to develop the core software building blocks on which current and future Autodesk products are being built. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about learning new technologies and promoting technologies to Autodesk partners. We are a global team, and you will collaborate with various people and teams from around the world. Take an active role in writing code samples, working on proof of concept using rapid prototyping principles, and presenting technology in various events. Produce high-quality, readable code, cover it with tests, and participate in code reviews. Continuously learn and improve your coding and design skills.Above all, this is an advocacy role. It is important for you to feel comfortable sharing information with your colleagues and especially our customer base – mostly developer personas. Mentorship is a strong quality we need in an advocacy role. This position requires the ability to multitask and self-manage your activities during day-to-day work. Some of the work involves reactive API Support duties (answering technical questions from our customers and partners), and then also the proactive tasks mixed in. To contrast a typical software engineering role, this position may require you to work with many different tasks in a single day. Specific examples of the many activities we work on are highlighted belowResponsibilitiesImplement prototypes and software components.Develop technical content for the developer community including sample code, blog articles and whitepapers.Write extensive sample code that demonstrates API usage and best practice.Provide technical (API Support / programming) advice to the community on various channels such as StackOverflow and Autodesk Forum. Help resolve technical issues including communicating the functions of a particular API, assisting with the software code and programming-related API questions.Use knowledge of Autodesk product APIs to assist partners with their business objectives of providing value-added software for their customers.Assist with their software design by providing them with technical information on Autodesk APIs and technologies.Assist with technical marketing activities including presentations and event participation.Work with internal product development engineering teams worldwide to help resolve customer and developer issues. Act as a liaison between engineering and the developer community by helping to evaluate and influence new API releases to help meet the needs of the community.

Work on state-of-the-art technology to bring 3D content creation applications to the cloud.Work as an integral member of a high-performance team making an important individual contribution.Estimate effort and schedule for projects, adhering to quality standards and continuously adapting to change of requirementsMinimum QualificationsBS in Computer Science or a related technical fieldExperience with .NET web application developmentExperience in an OOP environmentThe ability to implement efficient and maintainable codeA constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next levelAbility to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic, fluid environmentDetail oriented and passionate about building software and technologyFluent in English. Written and verbal English skills are extremely importantAbility to be patient and communicate across culturesEnjoy interacting with people – including one-on-one conversations and presenting to audiences at conferencesBonus PointsExperience with any Autodesk API technology. Including Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit, Vault, or Fusion. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $85,400 and $125,180. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
