You are responsible to dive deep into data to unearth valuable insights and translate them into actionable recommendations. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define and implement success metrics, ensuring alignment with product objectives and stakeholder needs.You’ll collaborate closely with our Machine Learning Engineers to deploy, maintain, and enhance these models, ensuring they meet our high standards for performance. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with Developers and Operations Research Scientists, empowering them to utilise our predictions effectively to drive maximum impact in our operations.Finally, you will play a pivotal role in our team by fostering collaboration among peers. You’ll work closely with fellow data scientists to establish and implement best practices. Your expertise and leadership skills will be instrumental as you mentor junior team members.Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from our Winnipeg/Toronto/Berlin office & 2 days working from homeReporting to: Manager, Data Science & Machine LearningThese are some of the key ingredients to the role:Push models to production, scaling, and maintaining them for long-term success.Work with real-time data integration and machine learning frameworks.Presenting complex data insights and machine learning concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.Generate business cases and manage the full lifecycle of models.Critical analysis of approaches, assumptions, and business impact, with the ability to challenge and refine strategies for optimal results.Generate innovative ideas, test hypotheses rigorously, and pitch business cases to stakeholders.Leading and mentoring peers, with the ability to guide and develop junior data scientists and foster team collaboration.What will you bring to the table?Advanced proficiency in data science and machine learning methodologies, with extensive experience applying these techniques in production environments.

Proficient with Python (scikit-learn, pandas, seaborn, etc.) in notebooks and pure Python code for production, and strong proficiency in SQL.Experience with real time inference and stream processing is required.Basic understanding of mathematical optimization is required.Strong understanding of software development best practices, including testing, git, code reviews, and model lifecycle management.Working with Docker containers to support reproducible and scalable environments.What It’s Like To Work At Skip:Skip is the kind of workplace that garnered a “Top Places to Work in Manitoba” and it was no small coincidence.
