As a part of the team, you will also play an active role in driving initiatives that deliver on the group’s broader objectives.Team DescriptionThe Strategy, Risk & Operations (SRO) group oversees CMF’s portfolio strategy, operational and business strategy and portfolio construction and risk management. This includes responsibilities related to the department’s strategy, developing both annual and long-term investment plans, portfolio construction and risk management, program execution approach, and managing CMF’s overall operations. This role is focused on enhancing the CMF level portfolio construction and risk management.Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the research and development of increasingly complex investment strategies.
  • Work directly with Investment partners to develop, test, integrate, and implement solutions for transformational initiatives
  • Build and maintain models for portfolio construction, investment analysis, and risk management.
  • Gather and synthesize information from a range of sources, including publicly available / proprietary research, internal subject matter experts and external specialists
  • Participate in the strategic asset allocation process. This key role includes financial/statistical modeling, portfolio analysis, and portfolio construction work related to long-term asset allocation.
  • Develop advanced quantitative skills to conduct research on different portfolio construction and risk modeling approaches.
  • Stay abreast of the equity, fixed income, currency, commodity markets and macroeconomic trends to contextualize market-driven volatilities and short term/long term impacts on the portfolios.
  • Assist in creating management and Board committee materials, including memos and presentations.
  • Identify gaps in current tools and processes under guidance and collaborate with senior team members to prioritize improvements and developments.

Qualifications

  • A graduate degree (Masters or higher) in a finance oriented discipline: Economics, Finance, MBA, Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering
  • 5-7 years of investment experience in a role such as top-down asset allocation, front-office quantitative research, or hedge fund portfolio management
  • Knowledge of/experience with active investment management or asset allocation processes is a plus.
  • Experience with the risk management of complex public market portfolios considered and asset.
  • Strong quantitative, research, modelling and analytical skills with a solid understanding of econometrics / statistics.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills both within a team as well as across different groups in an organization.
  • Experience with Tableau or similar visualization tools is considered an asset.
  • Applied programming/scripting experience using Python (and associated stats libraries)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
