Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.Our Office of the Chief Capital Officers (OCCO) is looking for a Senior Advisor to join the team! You will be part of a small team that provides support to the Chief Capital Officer (CCO), Rapid Transit and their senior executive team. You will advise and recommend actions on a variety of topics related to policy, programs, and issues management regarding the Rapid Transit program, including Light Rail Transit and subway expansion projects. This role is responsible for coordinating presentations, reports, and communications on behalf of the CCO and other senior executives in CPG; engaging within the CPG divisions to advance the CCO’s critical priorities; supporting the operations and governance of the divisions; as well as managing special projects.What will I be doing?

  • Collaborate with members of the Capital Leadership Team and their staff on policy, projects and contentious or emerging issues.
  • Identify emerging issues and urgency of immediate demands, mediate, and resolve conflicts associated with issues, ongoing work, and between competing projects.
  • Coordinate, support, and attend management meetings including confirming agenda, reviewing materials, and following up on action items.
  • Support development of high-quality reports, presentations, communication strategies and plan, both as initiator/author and as a reviewer of others’ work.
  • Identify risks and assess impacts on reputation, in collaboration with Metrolinx Communications and Community Relations
  • Support the coordination and development of materials on behalf of CPG for a variety of senior governance meetings, including but not limited to Senior Management Team, Committees, Board of Directors, and Executive Committee meetings.
  • Supports the CCO, Director, Capital Program Strategy and Operations, and other CPG senior executives in developing and executing strategic and business planning activities for the Division, including ensuring alignment with enterprise strategic business plans.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Public Policy, Management, Political Science, Communications or related field or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience, ideally in the public sector, developing strategic materials, reports, presentations, public relations materials, or communications materials, managing special projects, complex and sensitive issues/tasks, timely flow of information along with stakeholder interaction.
  • Experience within an engineering or transit infrastructure environment would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to support multiple priorities, navigate through ambiguity, and to plan, organize, and coordinate internal and external resources engaged in project activities to meet time and quality expectations.
  • Self-directed problem-solver taking initiative and proactively addressing issues working with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong capabilities to build and maintain relationships accompanied by a high degree of political acumen to work with and influence a variety of stakeholders, agencies, and staff to ensure successful outcomes and achieve goals.
  • Excellent analytical skills to analyze business needs and identify and assess risks and impacts on company reputation and develop recommendations for corrective action.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to prepare materials for oneself and others.
