Seed Collection Technician

Location: Port Angeles, Washington

The Plant Materials Program at the Institute for Applied Ecology will be hiring one technician to accompany a National Park Service crew focusing on seed collections of major workhorse species within Washington’s National Parks. The crew will be collecting seed from workhorse species and electronically recording data according to Seeds of Success protocols. This position is based in Port Angeles, Washington, and field work will be conducted within North Cascades, Mount Rainier, and Olympic National Parks, as well as within Lewis and Clark National Historic Park. Work schedule is 80 hours every two weeks, either as 4 days of 10 hours a week, or varying to include schedules that accommodate travel, including 5 days of 10 hours one week and 3 days of 10 hours the next. Duties are primarily in the field in front country and occasionally backcountry settings in many weather conditions. Overnight field work and camping is expected, potential backpacking may be necessary, per diem will be provided. Training for Seeds of Success protocols will be provided.
