About the Role:The School Settlement Coordinator-smaller centres, leads the operations and service delivery functions of the School Settlement program outside of HRM with a focus on team effectiveness, achievement of outcomes, and the evaluation of services. This role works closely and collaboratively with school administrators and staff to accomplish program objectives and ensure quality of services and program delivery. This role is responsible for the direct leadership, support, and supervision of a diverse team, program development and delivery, tracking and achievement of deliverables and outcomes, reporting, and demonstrating resourcefulness and innovation to enhance services.This position requires exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills to ensure that newcomer students and families receive the support they need to thrive in their new educational environment.In this role, you will:

• Responsible for organizing and overseeing school settlement services and activities, facilitating communication between schools and community partners, and ensuring that resources and services are accessible to students and their families
• Oversee the coordination and delivery of settlement services for newcomer students and their families across multiple school sites across the province through the effective leadership of staff and fostering strong relationships with school partners to ensure seamless integration and support for newcomers
• Provide engaging staff team leadership using effective management, coaching and communication strategies
• Ensure operational excellence in the development, implementation and evaluation of program activities and outcomes
• Develop and implement new strategies, approaches and initiatives that reflect understanding and identification of emerging gaps, trends and needs
• Create new resources, tools and processes that contribute to service efficiency and effectiveness of client support
• Build and leverage partnerships by working collaboratively and proactively with community partners
• Demonstrate excellence in fiscal and outcome management and reporting

Education and Skills Qualifications:

• Relevant education and/or combination of training or experience in human service delivery, settlement service delivery, program coordination, community development or equivalent
• Minimum 2+ years of progressive experience in staff team leadership, program development, coordination, or delivery of community and client-based programming
• Robust understanding of settlement sector as well as cultural competency in working with diverse newcomer populations – lived newcomer experience is a strong asset
• Knowledge of effective remote/off site management strategies and practices
• Experience working within or alongside school systems and understanding the strengths and challenges newcomer students face in adjusting to school
• Strong team-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively with schools community organizations, and service providers to meet the needs of newcomer students and families
• Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring operational logistics including expenditures and budget planning
• Strong organizational and program coordination skills, with the ability to design, implement, and evaluate initiatives.
• Proven record of meeting contract deliverables and reporting on outcome achievement
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt programs based on participant needs and community dynamics
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively write professional program reports
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, ACCESS, Excel, Word, PPT), Teams, and Zoom and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies required for excellent service delivery
• Ability for reliable travel throughout the province
