Description :Prairie Roots Co-op is hiring a Sales Agronomist on a permanent basis, in Marquette, MB.The successful applicant will interact on a first-hand basis with both growers and industry representatives. We supply seed, fertilizer, crop protection, energy and hardware products to our customers.What you’ll do:As the Sales Agronomist you will be the face of the Co-op and be providing top-tier service to the communities we serve. You will:

  • Provide a high level of professional customer service.
  • Manage customer crop production requirements including field scouting, agronomic trouble shooting, crop planning, seed, fertility and chemical recommendations.
  • Pro-actively communicate with growers and document interactions as part of CRM.
  • Maintain and expand the customer base within the location trading area.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding annual sales goals and profit margin objectives.
  • Assist with facility operational duties, shipping and receiving of fertilizer, bulk seed, chemical, facility accreditation, etc.
  • Assist with out-loading of bulk seed and seed treating, bagged seed & inoculant, bulk fertilizer, chemical, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers, other departments, and customers.
  • Implement sales strategy to promote Co-op products and services.
  • Review customer accounts to ensure that payments are within the approved credit policy.
  • Monitors competitive activity and trends in the market area.
  • Keep records and prepare reports on sales activities.
  • Provides timely service as well as agronomic information and advice to current and potential customers.
  • Initiates demonstration trials that will support marketing efforts.
  • Researches and responds to product inquiries.
  • Continued learning of agronomic knowledge, business development, and industry changes.

Who you’ll work with:The Team: Reporting to the Agro Division Manager, this position is accountable to meet and exceed annual sales goals and profit margin objectives of Prairie Roots Co-op products and services.The Community: Just a short drive northwest of Winnipeg, Marquette is a quaint, friendly family community! Through the work that we do, we help to build, fuel, feed and grow Western Canadian communities together.Who you are:You are passionate about Agriculture and you:

  • 1-5 years of experience in agri-business and/or customer service function.
  • Grade 12 or recognized equivalent, supplemented with successful completion of Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, or equivalent post-secondary education.
  • 2-3 years sales experience would be considered an asset, but not required.
  • CCA or P.AG. Accreditation is an asset, but not required.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Strong time management, planning and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong computer skills including all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • You are honest, trustworthy, results-oriented, and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • You believe in collaboration, building relationships, and value the perspectives of others.
