General Notes
This is for a 2 year, in-person position at the J. J. Pickle Research Campus in North Austin. The RESA I position will primarily assist with field hydrology studies and will end on 4/12/2028.
Purpose
The purpose of the position is to begin a 2-year post bachelor’s degree intern program that will both train future researchers and support existing funded BEG projects. The successful job applicant will be assisting with a variety of hydrogeologic field investigations in Texas. These studies include surface water-groundwater interactions of various rivers and aquifers, hydrogeologic mapping, geochemical analysis, and other hydrologic systems. The position is approximately 50% field work and 50% report preparation/data management.
Responsibilities
Perform field data collection activities
Perform laboratory analytical tasks
Analyze data and prepare report material
Assist with coordinating student research projects
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree is geoscience, hydrology or related disciplines
Familiarity with basic hydrology concepts
Capability to do field work in Texas
Familiarity with basic geologic mapping
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with field hydrology techniques (well level measurements, stream flow measurements, water chemistry sampling, etc)
Experience with ArcGIS
Report writing
Laboratory instrument operation
