You will lead and support the Region’s EHS function, validate adherence to requirements and goals, and direct improvement planning efforts. You will also lead project teams to address program changes or issues that apply across the North American field and manufacturing businesses, providing technical support on EHS matters to the region, and guiding Regional EHS Managers and contracted site EHS professionals.How you will do itDirect the implementation of JCI’s EHS strategy at the Region-level and work with business unit EHS teams to modify based on results.Lead and develop a team of Regional EHS professionals to foster a results-oriented culture of EHS excellence.Educate and develop Regional, Area, Branch, and Plant leadership in behaviors that lead to a results-oriented culture of EHS excellence.Collaborate with the EHS team to identify incident trends and initiate necessary modifications on a Regional level.Work with the Regional team to address leadership roadblocks and provide recommendations on corrective action.Direct incident investigation activities, identify root causes, and lead the Region’s Incident Review.Lead the implementation of EHS programs and processes specific to the businesses at all levels: Regional, Area, Branch, Plant, and project/site levels where necessary.Formulate and validate an effective Regional communication strategy for EHS awareness at the front-line employee level.Coach leadership on appropriate disciplinary action when unsafe behaviors or disregard for EHS responsibilities are identified.Conduct training for all levels of regional employees based on specific needs.Finalize and report EHS performance metrics, including completion of Leader EHS Practices and progress against EHS goals.Conduct the required audits and develop, complete and track progress of improvement plans in collaboration with the leadership team.Present and promote Johnson Controls’ EHS program and performance data to external customers as needed.Lead project teams for the development and modification of core EHS programs that support overall EHS goals and direction.Work with service and site leadership to maintain Canadian COR certification.What we look forRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety, and Health or a related field, with a minimum of 15 years of work experience in industrial and/or construction safety in a multi-facility environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills, strong business acumen, and solid analytical skills with the ability to influence at all levelsExperience with Canadian COR auditing, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and Canadian Environmental regulationsWillingness to travel 50-60% domestically throughout Canada#LI-JJ1#LI-RemoteJohnson Controls’ Canadian subsidiaries are committed to providing reasonable accommodation to applicants, candidates and employees with disabilities, in accordance with applicable human rights legislation, and in Ontario, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (“AODA”).
