Refuge Management Intern

Works with refuge staff to gain experience in habitat restoration, biological surveys, and visitor services/facilities. This position is stationed in Bandon, OR at Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge.

Duties include:

Identify, monitor, map and remove invasive plants to improve habitat conditions
Participate in the restoration project at Crook Point (requires camping at a remote field site with no running water or electricity, ~1-2 nights/week)
Conduct weekly nest monitoring of black oystercatchers and other on-going seabird research projects
Assist with native pollinator garden activities
Assist Shoreline education for Awareness with on-site interpretation and education for visitors on the seabirds and marine mammals of Oregon Islands Wildlife Refuge

Requirements:

B.Sc. preferred or some undergrad coursework in biology, natural resources, park management, or related field required
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident under age 31
Valid state driver’s license
Must be able to work independently and in groups
Must have good observational and communication skills
Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays, and morning/evening shifts
