People like you!The Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Recreation team to oversee the operation of Edmonds Community Centre and lead the facility’s supervisory team. This is administrative and supervisory work in planning, coordinating, developing, and administering the programs, allotments, services as well as coordinating the operations, maintenance, facility renovations, safety and security at this large multipurpose complex with an aquatic component. The Recreation Complex Supervisor prepares and administers operating budgets; provides recommendations for revenue generation and cost savings; develops business cases; participates in the coordination of renovations, maintenance and repairs for the building including the pool; participates in developing policies and departmental goals and objectives; establishes and maintains effective working relationships through community partnerships and development; supervises a large group of subordinates either directly or through subordinate supervisors; exercises considerable independence of action, judgement and initiative within the limits of established objectives and policies. Coordinates the allocation and use of facilities; ensures effective supervision of all events; reviews and monitors schedules to ensure optimal utilization of resources and that goals are being met. Work performance is reviewed and evaluated by a supervisor in terms of attainment of goals and objectives and the provision of effective recreational administrative services. The successful candidate will liaise with and provide consultative and recreation advisory services to community associations, groups and organizations; develop guidelines, procedures, new initiatives, provide input into long range plans; ensure adherence to approved goals and objectives; plan, assign, check and supervise the work of subordinate staff; recruit, train, coach and develop staff as required; participate in developing Request for Proposals; prepare and maintain correspondence, records and reports. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include a university degree in recreation or related discipline, including or supplemented by courses in recreation, education and business administration plus considerable related experience at the supervisory level, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and policies governing the work performed. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate and administer the operations, programs, allotments, events, facility renovations and services for this multipurpose recreation complex under minimal supervision; to provide liaison, consultative and recreation advisory services to community associations, groups and organizations and to promote partnerships, community involvement and interest in an extensive range of recreation activities; to plan, assign, check and supervise the work of subordinate staff, and hire and train staff as required; to determine and assess recreation needs, trends and opportunities within the community. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
