The
Real Estate Specialist performs property management and negotiation functions
including rental reviews, lease administration and negotiation, property
valuations, inspections, overseeing tenant operations and enforcing compliance
with contractual terms. Verifies input to property management systems and
performs other assigned duties as required.

What you do:

  • Negotiates lease and license agreements, amendments, surrenders,rent reviews, easements and other agreements for the utilization of VFPAproperty in accordance with VFPA policies, guidelines and practices.

  • Inspects and reports on VFPA properties, tenant improvements,including new construction and alterations to ensure compliance with agreementterms.

  • Prepares valuation reports and rental proposals.

  • Carries out market rental surveys, commissions and reviewsindependent appraisal reports.

  • Prepares submissions to management in support of lease or rentalreview proposals.

  • Reviews property agreements for completeness and accuracy.Verifies input to property management systems.

  • Fields real estate inquiries and explores new revenue growthopportunities for VFPA.

  • Provides real estate input to Project and Environmental Reviewapplications.

  • Collects overdue rental accounts.

  • Prepares annual rental forecast for assigned agreements.

  • Participates in departmental and corporate initiatives includingprocess improvements.

  • Assists with the coordination of Access to Information Inquiriesby reviewing VFPA property records and documents to ensure appropriateconfidentiality.

  • Assists auditors and special examiners, as required.

What you bring:

  • Completion of UBC’s Urban Land Economics Diploma, or equivalent,is required.

  • Four (4) years’ experience in a related real property managementenvironment, with an emphasis on negotiation.

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.Experience in database software would be an asset.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills,including the ability to liaise effectively and positively with both staff andoutside contacts.

  • Good judgment, demonstrated aptitude and ability for tactful anddiplomatic negotiation, along with solid analytical abilities.

  • Must be a highly motivated and proactive individual with a strongorientation to customer service.

  • Must be committed to a philosophy of continuous improvement in allwork processes, and able to work independently as well as in a teamenvironment.

  • Requires an excellent command of the English language, both oraland written.

MARINE TRANSPORTATION SECURITY CLEARANCE

The incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid
Marine Transportation Security Clearance when specific projects require this
position to access restricted areas/information as defined by the Marine Transportation
Security Regulations
