Company DescriptionEstablished in 2022, Navantia UK is a subsidiary of Navantia SA, a Spanish state-owned company with over 300 years of naval shipbuilding history.In January 2025, Navantia UK completed the acquisition of Harland & Wolff and its four historic facilities in Belfast, Appledore, Methil, and Arnish.By combining Harland & Wolff’s proud heritage and facilities with Navantia’s global expertise, Navantia UK is well-positioned to strengthen Britain’s defence, maritime and energy industrial capabilities, supporting jobs and economic growth across the country.Job DescriptionThe Quality Engineer will assist in supporting the Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Manager in maintaining the ISO 9001 certification for the Appledore Shipyard. This role will also be expected to assist with all Site, Project, and Supplier Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement requirements and initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 3834, and BS EN 1090 across all operations.
- Liaise with NDT and Dimensional Control departments to support inspection and validation processes.
- Support project-specific quality planning and maintain control of site quality documentation and deliverables.
- Conduct Internal Audits and external Supplier Audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
- Interface with clients, classification societies, and external auditors to represent the company’s quality management system.
- Provide on-site support and guidance to production teams, promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Engineering, Quality, or similar discipline (BTEC / NVQ or higher preferred).
- Internal Auditor qualification. (CQI or IRCA approved course is desirable)
- Lead Auditor qualification. (Desirable, but not essential)
