Are you a skilled chemist with a passion for both quality control and research and development? Our client, an international manufacturer located in Mirabel, Quebec, is seeking a dedicated Quality Control and R&D Chemist to join their dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to split your time evenly between ensuring the quality of materials and contributing to innovative R&D projects.Key Responsibilities:– Quality Control: Conduct rigorous tests on incoming raw materials and production batches to verify their compliance with established standards.
– Research & Development: Engage in material processing and testing activities, including polymer and resin formulation evaluations. This may involve tasks such as DSC testing, FTIR analysis, gel time evaluation, and viscosity measurement.
– Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering department to assist with quality-related return and failure analysis.
– Organization: Maintain and organize testing areas and facilities to ensure an efficient working environment.
– Documentation: Keep detailed records of all tests, processes, and results to support accurate reporting and analysis.
– Procedure Development: Assist in the creation and refinement of procedures and work instructions for Engineering and manufacturing teams.
– Communication: Effectively communicate with team members and management to ensure smooth operations and project execution.Qualifications:– Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
– Membership with the Quebec Order of Chemists (firm requirement).
– Experience with epoxy resin, epoxy injection, or similar polymers.
– Good communication skills.
– Strong understanding of chemical testing methods, statistical analysis, and quality control processes.
– Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
– Ability to work in both laboratory and factory settings, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
– Strong problem-solving abilities and data analysis skills.
– Familiarity with measuring devices and hand/power tools.
