This position will play a crucial role in addressing the mental health needs of our correctional population, offering comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment.Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner school
• Licensed to practice in the State of Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner
• Extensive knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities (symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures)
• Comprehensive knowledge of mental illness
• Comprehensive knowledge of current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) diagnostic criteria
• Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of practice and interventions appropriate for the assigned population

• Experience working in a Correctional Environment
• Experience treating in a public health care setting
