GENERAL description
Under the direction of the Outdoor education Supervisor for Texas State Parks, the Regional Texas Outdoor Family (TOF) Lead will perform routine (journey-level) administrative and supervisory program work and serve as lead instructor for overnight camping workshops to promote the use of State Parks to new visitors. Responsible for organizing, conducting, and evaluating TOF workshops within Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area State Parks. Serves as a community contact and recruiter between State Parks and DFW area partner organizations. Responsible for continuing existing and developing new relationships with TOF community partners who serve new audiences. This includes conducting outdoor leadership trainings to prepare group leaders/volunteers to lead overnight camping and outdoor education experiences modeled after TOF best practices. Management of partner events includes scheduling and shuffling gear between parks, the pursuit of payment and participant data, and communication with staff, parks, and partners. Responsible for marketing and promoting Texas State Park programs to develop strategic partnerships with populations of north Texas and helping maintain social media presence. Will supervise assistant instructor positions that help fulfill the duties of program hosting, partnership building, outreach, and gear management. Occasionally supervises interns/volunteers/ambassadors to assist in facilitating gear maintenance and outdoor education events. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
Two years experience conducting instructional or educational programs.
Licensure:
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a class “C” Texas driver’s license.
NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:
Education:
One additional year of the required experience conducting instructional or educational programs may substitute for 30 hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 60 semester hours.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Park Administration, Recreation and Parks, Wildlife/Fisheries Science, Natural and/or Cultural Resource jobshiringnearme.org, Range Management, Forestry, Biology, Sociology, Sports Management or a closely related field.
