Program Instructor/Leader Position – Chilean Patagonia

We’re hiring a committed Program Instructor/Leader for our Chilean Patagonia team. This role involves field research, academic program planning, student support, logistics management, and teaching undergraduate courses. We seek candidates with a background in conservation science, field research, teaching, and leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Program Leadership: Develop and lead program activities, ensuring alignment with objectives and safety protocols.
• Collaboration and Research: Design and conduct field research projects in collaboration with local partners and senior staff.
• Logistics and Safety Management: Oversee program logistics and ensure safety protocols are followed, including driving program vehicles.
• Teaching Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses and engage students in discussions on conservation issues.
• Student Support: Guide students in project analysis and foster their academic and personal growth.
• Communication and Coordination: Maintain communication with headquarters and local partners to coordinate activities.
• Budget Management: Manage program budgets and financial transactions in accordance with organizational policies.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of program activities and student evaluations.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Master’s degree or higher in conservation biology, ecology, or related fields.
• Field Research Skills: Proficiency in planning, conducting, and analyzing biological field research projects.
• Teaching Experience: Experience teaching undergraduate courses related to conservation biology or ecology.
• Leadership and Program Management: Proven leadership abilities in scheduling and leading program activities.
• Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in Spanish preferred.
• Student Support and Mentorship: Experience providing mentorship to undergraduate students.
• Certifications and Technical Skills: Certification in wilderness first aid/responder, proficiency in driving 4WD vehicles.
• Budget Management: Ability to develop and manage program budgets.
• Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to thrive in challenging environments and respond to unforeseen challenges.

Salary and Benefits:

Compensation ranges from $10,000 to $12,000 per spring/fall semester, with travel costs, lodging, and meals covered. Competitive health benefits. Salary and benefits may increase after one year of satisfactory performance.
