Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full-time, contract 40 hours per week, Program Coordinator in Edmonton to join our dynamic and talented team. This contract will end on July 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension.Job Summary:Join the Welcome Home team as a Program Coordinator! Welcome Home is a volunteer and participant-matching program that supports newly housed individuals to gain more social connectivity and thriving relationships! Volunteers are matched through Welcome Home with an individual who has left homelessness and is now struggling with social isolation and loneliness in their new home. Volunteers help them to build connection and resilience through community outings, weekly conversations, and attending fun social events. Some of the individuals in Welcome Home have experienced trauma and may struggle with mental illnesses and/or addictions. Welcome Home strives to connect these individuals with volunteers who are caring, and non-judgmental to help them make a fresh start in their new community. The Program Coordinator carries out the day-to-day operations of Welcome Home and ensures that the program is responding to community needs in an efficient and prompt manner. This position requires strong communication skills with a high degree of diplomacy and people management skills. The Program Coordinator primarily supports program Participants, takes the lead on establishing relationships with community partners, assists with volunteer services, and supports the dedicated Welcome Home Team to provide excellent service.Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary contact for the volunteers of Welcome Home; check in with all volunteers once per month
  • Provide appropriate supports to volunteers and participants with professional boundaries; effectively resolve conflicts that may arise
  • Recruit new volunteers and conduct volunteer interviews regularly
  • Meet and maintain volunteer program targets, including collecting monthly volunteer hours
  • Support the team to plan and participate in Welcome Home events
  • Assist the team with the Care-a-Van including replacing others in the van as needed.

What This Job Requires:

  • A Diploma/Degree in Human Services (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within community-based services serving individuals with histories of homelessness, complex mental health issues, addictions and trauma
  • An understanding of poverty-related issues involving homelessness and additional awareness of Indigenous population.
  • The ability to work independently in the community and effective case management are requirements of this position.
  • Certification or training in Indigenous Awareness, Abuse Awareness, Standard First Aid, and Violence/Crisis Intervention is a definite asset.
  • The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach to the work, strong team work skills, a commitment to developing positive supporting relationships.

  • Ability to be outgoing, and quickly build meaningful relationships
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Possess excellent de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work with an enthusiastic, and driven mindset
  • Possess excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Possess a good knowledge of community resources
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and other Agency computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy
  • Proven case documentation and effective information reporting practices
  • A reliable Vehicle, Valid Driver’s License, Vehicle Registration and Third Party Liability Insurance (amount of two million)
  • Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months
  • Summary of driving record with no more than six (6) demerit points current within one (1) year.
