Program Analyst 1 (Assistant Hunter Education Coordinator)

Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon’s fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

We are hiring for one full time, permanent Assistant Hunter Education Coordinator in Salem, Oregon.

What you will do:

You will assist and coordinate with the Hunter Education Coordinator to ensure program goals are being met for youth Hunter Education Safety Certification, range and shooting sport development, volunteer development and advanced hunter education.

You will act as the department’s secondary Hunter Education Specialist, acting as the public face of the Hunter Education Program promoting the program and responding to media and public requests for information.

You will also assist with implementation and maintaining the existing archery programs in Oregon.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Education, Outdoor Education, Communications, Fisheries or Wildlife Science or related degree; OR
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years of experience coordinating or administering a program

Desired Attributes:

  • Must possess good communication, interpersonal, analytical and judgment skills, and must be able to work independently.
  • Applicants should have considerable knowledge in archery and rifle skills, hunter and bowhunting education, equipment, maintenance, range safety, the laws, regulations, and trends in hunting/archery and must have  teaching experience.
  • Must possess strong background and related experience in program coordination and delivery, and ability to deal with multiple tasks with varying deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Skills in customer service, Microsoft Office Suite, and other data management and computer-based presentation software as needed, effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
