The product assortments we design and produce are exclusive to Imagineers, Cast Members, and Employees of the Walt Disney Co. and celebrate the creativity and innovation that go into every Disney Project.You will report to the Mickey’s of Glendale Product Development Assistant Manager.This is a 2 1/2-year Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.What You Will DoThe Product Designer is a key staff member of the Product Development team. This individual will drive product design and development for apparel and accessories categories, starting from concept to production. You will support the design and delivery of products and own all aspects of the product development process including ideation, research, planning, sourcing, costing, production, and commercialization. Other responsibilities will include:Stay in sync with sourcing criteriaEnsure all products pass Product Safety & Reliability tests and Federal safety standardsMaintain development timelines and tracking of achievementsCollaborate with the leadership team on in-store visual designCollaborate with marketing on creative development and marketing strategyActively support securing company assets through effective Loss Prevention, in compliance with company policies and rules
Promote and maintain a safe working and shopping environmentWork with partners and peers to ensure the highest quality, trend-right product lines that build brand equityCollaborate with internal and external partners to design and approve all productsExplain a point of view clearly and positively while also being flexible with receiving feedbackSporadic domestic travelRequired Qualifications & Skills2+ years of experience in product design and development, production scheduling, project management, and coordinating marketing activitiesProven computer software skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Suite, and Keynote on a Windows platformProficient in FLEX or similar PLM softwareStrong communication skills across all professional interactions, including guests, peers, and management within and among all internal business unitsBuild and maintain professional partnerships with multiple internal teams and partners like vendors, suppliers, and moreStrong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects in timeProven success in decision-making, tact, and flexibilityHighly motivated problem solver who pays close attention to detailsVisual merchandising savvyPreferred QualificationsSolid knowledge of visual merchandising principles is desired. Previous skills/experience as a graphic artist strongly preferredPrior experience or knowledge of properties within The Walt Disney Co. (Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, 20th Century, and National Geographic).Education2-year college degree or equivalent work experience.Additional InformationDisney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life.
