Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesTo provide specialist expertise to all Oxleas CAMHS teams about identifying, assessing and providing interventions for young people with First Episode Psychosis (FEP).To provide specialist clinical supervision to clinicians including those working on the Greenwich CAMHS EIP pathway, and across the service. This may include psychologists, trainee clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, and staff from other disciplines.To provide specialist consultation to Greenwich CAMHS staff around identifying, assessing and providing interventions for unusual experiences (including hearing voices, seeing visions, paranoid beliefs), both within and outside of the EIP pathway.To lead on organising the provision of urgent initial assessments of suspected psychosis to meet the 2-week Access and Waiting Time and Treatment targets for First Episode Psychosis set by the Department of Health (2015).To provide highly specialist assessments of children and young people referred to the Early Intervention in Psychosis pathway, and other complex presentations in the Greenwich Adolescent Team, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s FEP and other comorbid issues, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients within the Greenwich EIP pathway and others in the Greenwich Adolescent Team and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.To act as care coordinator for young people on the Greenwich EIP pathway where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans under CPA including clients, their carers, referring agents and others involved the network of care.To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.To be responsible for the good clinical governance, quality, evidence-based practice and appropriateness of the work of all clinicians on the EIP pathway including clinical supervisees.To work in close collaboration with other CAMHS leads to fulfil and further develop the evidence- based practice offer to children and families presenting with FEP.To contribute to developing strong joint working relationships and practices across Greenwich CAMHS and with the adult EIP teams, between clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels of the organisation.To work with seniors on workforce development for the EIP pathway across the 3 boroughs including recruitment to meet current demands and supporting training and development needs.To lead on and complete the annual National Clinical Audit of Psychosis regarding waiting times and treatments targets for First Episode Psychosis, and other service audits as required.To identify areas for Quality Improvement and to lead on quality improvement projects, and service evaluations, to drive service improvement.Leading on relevant NICE guidance review, synthesizing findings and feeding into senior leadership when any gaps are identified to ensure appropriate provision of care for young people with FEP.
To lead on developing and delivering training across Oxleas CAMHS relating to Early Intervention in Psychosis and working with unusual experiences.To be responsible for liaising with extended networks including adolescent inpatient units, CAMHS crisis team, paediatrics, social care, education, youth offending services.Person specificationTraining and qualificationsEssential criteriaDesirable criteria
